"Advancing Sustainability, Battling Climate Change"
About this Research Topic
Several countries are adversely affected by climate change, and much needs to be done to make the large population adapt to the new realities being unfolded.
Nowadays, buildings consume more energy, and many countries mainly use fossil fuels for electricity generation. With rising global temperatures, our cities are also heating up. The world faces climate-related disasters such as extreme temperatures, floods, storms, droughts, water scarcity, etc. The government and individuals are putting their efforts into facing the climate change situation and focusing on climate adaptation, mitigation, and sustainable development. However, most of these efforts are still unrecognized. There is a need to share, exchange, and flourish the knowledge related to climate change adaptation, mitigation efforts, and strategies; and to learn from scientific evidence and experiences.
This research topic aims to focus on scientific knowledge, evidence-based research, case studies, individual efforts, and experiments that are taking place globally for climate change adaptation and resilience. Moreover, to highlight the methods, efforts, and practices for battling climate change and promoting sustainability in the various fields of study.
This research topic welcomes contributions that can address the issues of environment and climate change towards a sustainable built environment. It is intended to focus on (though not limited to) the following themes.
Bioclimatic architecture

"Assessment of Users' Satisfaction in Public Spaces"
About this Research Topic
In the last few years, with the spread of the pandemic and the closure of public and recreational facilities, urban public spaces have played a key role in improving the quality of life and the comfort of citizens by offering many opportunities for users to overcome stress, interact, and enjoy themselves. With the rising level of the citizens' expectations and needs, designing an urban space has become a critical task with various dimensions. Social cohabitation, environmental protection, health care and the well-being of citizens are among the main considerations of urban public spaces’ stakeholders. In this context, users' satisfaction responds to the space design and features, holding objective and subjective aspects that can be assessed and improved.
Research themes welcomed by this Research Topic include, but are not limited to:
• Public space design;
• Methods and tools to evaluate the satisfaction of users of public spaces;
• Evaluation of the urban public spaces during the pandemic period;
• Post-pandemic vision of public spaces;
• Smart furniture's role to improve urban public spaces;
• Revitalization of public spaces;
• Comfort and quality of public spaces.
Keywords: Urban public spaces, Users' satisfaction, Pandemic period, Quality of public spaces, Public spaces for changing public life.
